Leon Recovers From Stress Disorder

JOHANNESBURG – Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Tony Leon is reportedly recovering from a severe bout of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following his recent election road show. Hospital sources said that the stress of being around so many non-whites had finally caught up with the DA leader.

leon.jpg (10619 bytes)Leon apparently broke down at a committee meeting of the Gauteng branch of the DA, where he came under pressure from non-white DA candidates who weren’t quite sure if the DA’s us-vs-them, laager mentality was the right approach to take. In a burst of uncontrolled anger Leon told the candidates to “just go back to the location if you don’t like my party!”

The private clinic where Leon is being treated said that Leon seems to be responding well to the treatment. The source said that he had brought along his own clinical psychologist from the DA’s Transformation Services division, who was specifically trained to help people adjust to the new South Africa.

A party source close to the DA leader, spoke to the sjambok on condition of anonymity. “Tony had practiced being around blacks, coloureds and Indians with his maid, cook and gardener a few weeks before the road show, but I think he wasn’t ready for the sheer number of them he would meet.”

“He’s coming along quite nicely now. I spoke to him the other day and he says there aren’t as many natives…urr, I mean ethnic people in his dreams, and they all call him ‘baas’ so it’s okay.”

A DA spokesperson said that PTSD was extremely common in South Africa because of the high crime rate: “Mr. Leon is just another victim”. The spokesperson said that Leon “would get his own back” once he makes a full recovery in the near future.
